                  DISPATCH  CENTER

Wamego Police dispatch is currently staffed with four full-time and two part-time employees.  The Communications center has one dispatcher on duty at a time for each shift, and is staffed 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.

Our Communications center take calls and dispatch for Wamego Police, Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services.  Dispatchers also handle after hours calls for the Wamego City Offices and are responsible for notifying the correct city department for service calls involving power, water, sewage and animals.

Our dispatchers responsibilities also include answering administrative and 911 emergency calls, monitoring business alarms, operation of the console radio and radio logs, computers, after hour collection of citation fees for the court, testing and activation of the emergency TV alert system, storm sirens, and many additional duties.

Dispatchers in our Communication center are the first person you will speak to when calling the Police Department or 911. Dispatchers will ask questions and gather as much information possible to determine the appropriate response. The information gathered from the caller will be passed along to keep responding units informed and aware of anything that could affect their safety as well.
