The Wamego Police Department and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office are
investigating two residential aggravated burglaries that occurred during the early morning hours of July 6th 2012. Both homes were occupied at the time the suspect entered. The burglaries occurred on JC Rogers Drive and Country Club Circle (both on the west side of Wamego). The suspect is described as a male 5’06” to 5’09” and might have a dark complexion. The suspect description is vague due to the time of day when the witness saw him. In both incidents the occupants of the homes confronted the suspect and he fled the area on foot. We believe the suspect is targeting higher income homes. There are no signs of forced entry in either home; it is believed the doors were left unlocked. The suspect will open gates into the back yard then enter the home through unlocked back doors. The suspect did damage a screened in porch to gain access to the back door. The Wamego Police Department is urging people to make sure their homes and vehicles are locked. Any one with information on these burglaries is asked to contact the Wamego Police Department (785) 456-9553 or the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office (785) 457- 3353. Currently the Wamego Police Dept. is accepting applications for 3 part-time officers. Applications can be found here. Please fill out information and submit your application to the Wamego Law Enforcement Center.
